The main objective of the assignment is construction supervision for improvement of rural roads through rehabilitation of earth roads and upgrading using Low Volume Sealing in the districts of LILONGWE AND NCHISI. The scope of services for the consultancy are as follows:
- Review of the designs and refining them to suit existing scenarios where applicable
- Assist in the procurement of contractors
- Construction supervision for upgrading of low volume sealed roads and rehabilitation of earth roads. Works include where necessary, upgrading of earth roads to low volume sealed roads, rehabilitation, spot repairs, localised gravelling works, earth works, culvert repair and construction, masonry and concrete works etc.
The project included the following Drainage Infrastructures: (i) Road surface drainage with the drainage of stormwater runoff; (ii) Subsurface drainage with the interception and disposal of groundwater flows; (iii) Erosion protection measures for the slopes.
