The improvement of road access to the city of Managua continues with the project to improve the La Garita-Tipitapa highway, which is being carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with support from the World Bank.

Transforming current road into a “high capacity road” with two lines per direction in the section 1, so as to lighten the current existing traffic, improving safety and diminishing travel times. Total Length: 30,46 km.

The main works that are developed are the improvement of existing structure, paving with asphalt mixing at 12 centimeters thick, construction and rehabilitation of existing drainage, road signs, and environmental mitigation works.

The project also included the following Drainage Infrastructures: (i) Road surface drainage with the drainage of stormwater runoff; (ii) Subsurface drainage with the interception and disposal of groundwater flows; (iii) Erosion protection measures for the slopes.
